Para ir terminando con el artículo de Philip E. Bourne «Ten Simple Rules for Getting Published»:

Rule 8: Become a reviewer early in your career.

Reviewing other papers will help you write better papers. To start, work with your mentors; have them give you papers they are reviewing and do the first cut at the review (most mentors will be happy to do this). Then, go through the final review that gets sent in by your mentor, and where allowed, as is true of this journal, look at the reviews others have written. This will provide an important perspective on the quality of your reviews and, hopefully, allow you to see your own work in a more objective way. You will also come to understand the review process and the quality of reviews, which is an important ingredient in deciding where to send your paper.

Yo no tengo ninguna experiencia como revisor, pero esta claro que es la otra forma de entrar en contacto con el procedimiento de peer review.

De hecho, algunos autores [Llan et al, 07] han relacionado esta regla con la máxima de El arte de la guerra, «Conoce a tu enemigo». Llegando incluso a proponer una interpretación desde la perspectiva Enderiana de «Siente empatía por tu enemigo» [Card, 85].

Nota: Tengo que destacar este párrafo que he encontrado en la wikipedia buscando empatía (la palabra, no empatía para mi): «In the 2006 television series Heroes, the character of Peter Petrelli is revealed to be an “empath”, possessing the ability to absorb and use the power’s of other heroes….». Busca empatía en la enciclopedia británica o la larousse, a ver si dice algo de Heroes. Por cierto, la continuación de la frase es un spoiler, osea que evitadla.

• Regla 8: Conoce a tu enemigo: conviértete en revisor.
